GREATCUBE+: conceptual design tool for CubeSat’s design

Abstract CubeSats are a type of spacecraft which have become popular since the early 2000. They known for their quick development time and low cost, when comparing them to larger satellites. However, there is significant drawback has been recorded during these years operations, namely an high failure rate turns almost half into space debris. The reasons behind malfunctions often attributed flawed design choices or failures commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products. To improve CubeSats, several software tools performing conceptual proposed. These limited in capabilities not suitable all types CubeSat missions. address this issue, University Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (FHWN) cooperation with Technische Universität Dresden developing tool called GREATCUBE+. Its goal increase success by providing satellite model composed commercial-off-the-shelf products backed up empirical heritage, analytical proof, numerical analysis. One main features ability dealing different typologies payloads. GREATCUBE+ validated various successful missions it provides solutions accuracy above 90% comes weights volumes. Using software, teams can proceed from testing assembly phases quicker, hoping result higher quality fewer failures.
